Marketing Lead
“Every tool in our category claims buying intent. Your job is to make people believe ours - mostly by proving it, rarely by saying it.”
About us
Recepto.ai is a platform that helps revenue teams of B2B companies get leads with high purchase intent. We believe sales should be more human, and that people should spend their time with prospects who are looking for their solution rather than pinging and spamming everybody who could potentially buy it. Recepto was started by Ketan Kapoor, Aryan Dhankani, Dhruv Mehrotra and Aman Singh - an all IIT Roorkee team, and all four founders have run their own ventures before. Ketan sold his last company, Mettl (www.mettl.com), to Mercer in 2018. We have raised a pre-seed round, have a two-year runway, are 13 people strong, and have 30 paying customers. Our preference is to break even and scale the business profitably, but if we need to, we might raise an institutional round.
The role
We are hiring our first marketer. Not a channel specialist handed a menu of nine things, but one person who owns the story and how it gets distributed. Our category is loud. Every tool in it says "buying intent", and most of them outspend us. What we have instead: plays as the thing you buy, a map of who you already know inside an account, and a price a mid-market team can say yes to. The job is to make those land. Our pricing means every marketing spend has to earn its keep, so the work leans on what compounds - writing, proof and relationships - rather than booths, agencies and paid search. Our own product is a signal engine, so outbound is already covered. What we need is the story behind it. The market is turning our way. Buyers are tired of AI-generated volume, and inboxes are stricter than they have ever been. "Send less, send better" is what we have always believed, and now is the moment to say it loudly. You will fit here if you write well and fast, you have opinions about B2B go-to-market that you can back with evidence, you would rather measure pipeline than impressions, and you are as comfortable in a room with buyers as you are in a doc. What we offer: work alongside the founding team with a direct line to growth, real ownership of a function from its first day, a competitive salary with performance-based incentives, a supportive and energetic team, and room to grow as the company scales.
Where most of your time goes
AEO - answer engines, not just search
More of our buyers now start in ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and AI Overviews than in a search box. You will own how Recepto shows up there: reviews on G2 from the customers we already have, comparison pages that are fair and current, a genuine presence on Reddit and in operator communities, and a scoreboard of how often we are cited for the questions our buyers actually ask.
Events & communities - dinners, not booths
We do not buy booths. We host twelve-person roundtables around the events our buyers already attend, and we show up - properly, not as a logo - in the communities they already belong to. The way we got in front of the room at IndoSales is the model: be useful where the conversation is already happening, and let the relationships do the rest.
What you'll do
- Run founder-led LinkedIn: ghostwrite and publish for our founders three times a week, because personal voices reach buyers and company pages no longer do.
- Own answer-engine optimisation (AEO): get our customers reviewing us on G2, keep our comparison pages fair and current, show up in Reddit and operator communities, and track how often answer engines cite us.
- Retire the "what is buyer intent" blog. Write opinion, comparisons and original data - the content that gets cited, not the content AI summaries have already absorbed.
- Publish our own signal data: a quarterly report on which buying signals actually preceded a purchase, drawn from the plays we run across entire markets.
- Launch a free signal check - enter a domain, see the recent buying signals on your top accounts - and make it our best top-of-funnel asset.
- Build partnerships where buyers already are: marketplace listings on the CRMs our customers use, and a handful of RevOps and outbound agencies who bring us into their client base.
- Events and communities: dinners, not booths. Host small roundtables around the events our buyers attend, and be a genuinely useful voice in the communities they already belong to.
- If we start a podcast, run it for what it is at our stage - a reason to put forty of our buyers on a call with a founder - and measure it in relationships, not downloads.
- Carry one story everywhere - send less, send better - and turn our customers' results into case studies with real numbers.
What we look for
- 2-5 years in B2B marketing, ideally at a SaaS startup selling to sales, RevOps or GTM teams.
- You write well and quickly, including in someone else's voice. Send us something you wrote, and something you ghostwrote.
- A working understanding of how answer engines choose their sources - or the curiosity to have one within your first month.
- You measure pipeline and citations, not impressions.
- Comfortable in a room with buyers: hosting, moderating and following up.
- Resourceful with a small budget. You have got results without a paid-media line to lean on.
- Opinions about the world around you, backed by logic.
- Comfortable working in ambiguity. Compensation is flexible.
